Mullsteff Family Story

Sean MullsteffPerry & Sue Mullsteff founded the Sean Mullsteff Teen Driving Foundation shortly after the tragic death of their 19-year-old son, Sean. We named the foundation after Sean to honor the time we shared and in his memory. Our story is similar to thousands of other grieving families throughout the nation.

Nineteen year-old Sean was killed in a single car collision on April 4, 2004 , just before midnight . He was driving home after attending an evening service at our church and watching a movie with friends. Sean was two miles away from our home when he lost control of the car. His front tire bumped a curb on a two-lane country road, which caused him to overcompensate. He pulled the steering wheel in the other direction, which sent the car into a sideways skid. The car then struck an embankment on the opposite side of the road. The car rolled over and slid into a tree with the full impact on the driver's side door. Sean was wearing his seatbelt and all four of the 1996 Volvo's airbags deployed, but he was killed instantly. Sean never drank and or used drugs. It was his decision to drive too fast that night and his inability to control the car that cost him his life -- and left our family with a broken heart.

Sean is survived by his parents Perry and Sue, his brothers, PJ and Ryan, and his sister, Chelsea.
